Same-Difference is a nonprofit (official 501 © 3) youth empowerment organization established to promote leadership, cultural exploration, community outreach and life skills in young men.
The organization was founded by, Teresa Oliver in 2012, but it wasn’t until 2014 that the organization received its 501 c 3 filing status. Since 2012, Same-Difference has been dedicated to positive healthy development of young men. The organization strives to instill and build self-esteem and self-worth of young men by providing a safe haven, being a catalyst for education, and by changing their outlook on life by broadening their horizons, and helping them to empower themselves.
By reaching out and empowering the youth in their formative years about issues of self-worth, goals, and aspirations, the organization reinforces the message that young men need not objectify themselves or relinquish their autonomy. Same-Difference has boldly and radically taken on the crisis of our male youth in America head on, and understands the need for positive self-images and a strong sense of awareness.
Same-Difference also has a Hunger Relief Initiative for urban and low income families (see Hunger Relief page). This program donates food to local food pantries and to direct families who are in need of organically grown fruits and vegetables.
